Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Technician to perform inspections and testing of construction materials. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards on active construction sites. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with construction materials testing, can interpret technical drawings and specifications, and is committed to delivering accurate and timely results.
Requirements

Conduct field inspections and materials testing for concrete placement, soil compaction, structural steel installations, and wood framing.

Sample and test materials in accordance with OSHA, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IBC, and other applicable standards.

Observe and document work performed by contractors to ensure compliance with design plans and specifications.

Prepare detailed daily field reports, including observations, test results, and photographic documentation.

Perform nondestructive and destructive testing as required (e.g., slump tests, rebar inspections, density testing, bolt torque, nail patterns).

Communicate field findings with engineers, contractors, and project managers in real-time.

Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate readings and compliance.

Travel to various job sites in all weather conditions; maintain a strong safety culture at all times.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Technical degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

1-3+ years of experience in field inspections or materials testing (preferred).

Certifications such as:
-
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
-
Nuclear Gauge Safety/HAZWOPER (for soil compaction testing)

ICC Special Inspector (Structural Steel, Reinforced Concrete, Wood Framing)
-
NICET (Construction Materials Testing – Soils/Concrete)
-

Familiarity with codes and standards: ACI, ASTM, IBC, ICC, AWS, AISC.

Proficient in report writing and basic data entry using tablets or laptops.

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements
